Djurberg & Berg create ambiguous atmospheres and situations in their installations, where the viewer through animations and music is transferred between different state of minds.  Often, we encounter transgressive narratives that are replete with symbolic depth and emotional resonance. These narratives delve into allegorical myths and conjure grotesque, nightmarish visions, all while the artists courageously navigate the shadows of humanity, unearthing themes like oppression and greed. At the same time their work refuses to make a distinction between good and evil, right and wrong. The films and sculptures are usually shown as part of extensive immersive installations where the viewer is invited to step into the world of the artists.

The exhibition is the world premiere for several new works: the video clay animation Only for the Wicked—consisting of seven films, which also provided the exhibition title, the three gilt sculptures Portrait of a Wicked, 1, 2 & 3, and the installation The Stone Garden.

Hans Berg and Nathalie Djurberg have collaborated since 2004 and live in Sweden and United Kingdom, their work has been exhibited in solo shows at New Museum, New York, Moderna museum, Stockholm, Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, Baltimore Museum of Art, Fondazione Prada, Milan among others. They have exhibited widely together in group shows, including the 53rd Venice Biennale, Italy in 2009, earning them the Silver Lion. Their work is featured in a number of collections around the world, including the Prada Foundation in Milan, Italy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, USA.

The book includes texts by Eva Eriksdotter, Museum Director Borås Art Museum, Caroline Gustafsson, curator Borås Art Museum, Evan Moffitt, writer and art critic and Sinziana Ravini, art critic, author and psychoanalyst. Published by Borås Art Museum in connection with the exhibition Only for the Wicked (10 June – 5 November 2023), distributed by Art & Theory Publishing. The book is edited by Silvana Lagos, curator, and writer.
